Our Treasurer, Windwalker, known to the world as Kimberley Long-Ewing, PhD, presented her paper “Turning Swords into Plowshares :  How Pagan Paths Assist Veterans in Adjustment to Civilian Life” on April 1, 2006 at the Midwest Academy of Religion Conference in Chicago, IL.  Windwalker is a minister at Circle Sanctuary.  She spoke of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and how Pagan spirituality aids victims in readjusting to society.  Windwalker’s presentation went well and she is planning to do other presentations and workshops on this subject.

Rev. Kourtnie D. Nandlal (Ladie Dreamweaver) of the Universal Terran Church of the Sunshine Grove ( http://uniterran-church.org/) has been helping F.A.I.T.H. (Fighting Against Injustice
Towards Harmony) to reword their Fair Employment Clause. The clause read:  “The role of the organizers is to assist leaders to build a strong organization with a structure based on democratic
principles and grounded in our Judeo-Christian values.”  Thanks to all of you that wrote in with suggestions to make this clause reflect the multi cultural society that we live in.

On 26 April Todd, our Sergeant from California, learned that he was one of only two sergeants out of many applicants picked for his department's newly formed Color Guard.  We have had and "Honor Guard" unit for a while now but the Sheriff wanted an actual Color Guard that could represent the department at various functions.  Congratulations, Todd!

2006 Canadian Census

Officers of Avalon encourages Canadian Pagans to stand up and be counted in the 2006 Census of Canada.  The last census showed Pagan spirituality is the fastest growing religious community in Canada.  It is important for the government to realize this if we expect to be treated seriously.
